Dr. William Muñoz earned his B.A. from The George Washington University, in 2006. He then graduated with his medical degree in 2011 from Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico. His surgical internship and his orthopedic surgery residency was completed at Rutgers – New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Muñoz also progressed even further to complete his fellowship in spine surgery at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Dr. Muñoz has co-authored multiple manuscripts in peer-reviewed medical journals, including Annals of Surgery and The Spine Journal. One of his most prestigious papers was selected as The Spine Journal 2012 Outstanding Paper in Basic Science. He has also written multiple medical textbook chapters in AOSpine Master Series and Recent Advances in Spine Surgery.
Dr. Muñoz specializes in spine surgery and gained experience in a variety of spinal disorders while training at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He provides both non-operative minimally invasive and operative treatment for complicated spine deformities and misalignment, spinal trauma and degenerative disorders, as well as non-operative techniques such as kyphoplasty spine injections.
Dr. Muñoz is proficient written and spoken in English and Spanish.
